SF is a lot more fun in my opinion.

DoA! Finally some real challenge!
I loved SF back then but it gets old

SF hands down.

Sorrows Furnace is an example of good game design - fun, challenges for all skill levels, don't need anything out of the ordinary to access, and the rewards are generally good.

DoA is an example of horrible game design - absolutely no fun at all, tedious grind, overwhelming to all except those who can play 12 hours a day, and the rewards are crap compared to the time investment required.

In playing Nightfall I could see the handiwork of the Prophecies design team but playing in DoA it felt like the work of the Factions design team. I would love to know who at Anet was the driving force behind each chapter and area. When you look at each chapter and add-on area it is painfully obvious that its not the same person(s). There seems to be two camps there. One that knows how to design a game for computer players and another camp that has spent far too much time playing console games and doesn't understand that hordes and overpowered abilities is not what makes a challenging or fun game.

Sorrows Furnace hands-down.

It was certainly more enjoyable than DoA.

Sorrows Furnace: god looking, fast paced, decently challenging and fun (even for random PuG's)

Domain of Anguish:... its new and all but - way too challenging and more of a pain than pleasure, very frustrating (playing PuG's) when a wiped party ends up in outpost, no henchmen, environmental effects, monster skills etc etc

I vote for SF any day even tho its "old"

SF of course. But you can't compare them because SF is an open explorable area, and DoA isn't. DoA should be compared to Tomb of Primevil Kings, not SF.

how come no mention of UW?

i guess 90% of the people here have never done anything other then the 55 runs and never even seen anything other then the smite runs.

back in the day our guild used to have full 8 man teams where we would clear as much as we can, spawning pools, chaos plains, etc.

The place is very nicely designed, visually and gameplay.

now that i think about it, anyone wanna do a uw trip, not a smite run, but a full team, going as far as we can get.

SF by far.

DoA is too cookie cutter dependant for my tastes. SF has some cookie cutter problems, but it's completely doable with a balanced and smart team. DoA... not so.. heh, try even going in without a cookie cutter group and see how many people stay in your group (if you try and make one) or how long you last till kicked (if you join one).

DOA - too much time and effort to start; too much time and effort for nil reward; too little fun.

SF - group up and "KILLROY!" (or Leeroy if you find that funnier).

Well considering I spent a lot of time in SF with my Necro - SF for sure. Challenging but fun. Of course I miss the 40 minion armies, but still. Haven't played DoA much, but from what I hear - it's a little too challenging to be fun. Plus - someone posted spending 9 hours doing 1 quest!!?? That is ridiculous, and I would never have the time anyway. SF - all the way.

Which is better.

DoA or pre-searing.

I personally like pre-searing. You don't need to group, all mobs are 10 levels below you, the world is pretty....

Let's at least compare apples to apples, shall we? One is elite mission. The other is explorable farming spot.

So the choices here are DoA, Urgoz Warren and The Deep.

Then you have FoW and UW.

And lastly you get zones with repeatable quests. Sorrow's Furnace, the faction PvE runs, challenge missions.

Ordered in terms of decreasing difficulty.

I like SF more, but I don't see why the two are being compared.

Who's comparing them? The OP only wanted to know which one we like better.

Relative difficulty is immaterial. You either like the one better, you like the other better, or you like them both just as much, for whatever reason.

It's perfectly valid to ask someone whether he prefers an apple or an orange.

SF or DoA? Yeesh, that's like asking people whether they'd prefer a weekend on a beautiful beach or a weekend of having their fingernails slowly pulled off. One can hardly be surprised when, in both cases, most prefer the former over the latter -- the odd masochist aside, of course.

Sorrows Furance is fun since there is multiple quests within the area. Each bosses in SF dropped special green items and back than, those were worth alot of money. Remember when Bortak Bone Staff and claw were 100K+ few ectos. It does required different builds to beat certain quests but it's not that hard to use henchies (now with heroes) to complete them.

Domain of Anguish (haven't been through there yet) is large and challenging. It require peoples to use specific team or builds to beat it. Also it take times to complete most of the quests within there. I don't know if the bosses within that place dropped green items. But i seen screen shots with them dropping gold items.

I vote for Sorrow's Furnace! And Grenth's Footprint too!

DoA is more fun that viciously beating your kneecap with a hammer, but not much more.

Definately SF, because its fun, has reasonable rewards, isn't too hard to complete in a PUG with a wierd collection of non cookie cutter builds while still remaining not too easy for an experienced group, has short quests that you can easily do even if you're short on time, and is always great to visit with a group of friends.

DoA, on the other hand, is just a collection of high level enemies in massive mobs that can easily kill you in under a second, requires a certain team build, takes several hours per quest and is, imo, boring.
